Well my 2005 F350 CC Lariat id 3 onths old and problem free, so far. What I cannot understand is why FORD uses such wimpy door locks on such an expensive truck.
I say let's demand a more secure truck from Ford.
I am tired of thieves "popping" my locks, setting my alarm off and leaving my truck with a damaged lock system.
Well they busted my passenger side doorlock and the plastic around the handle. Took my laser calculator for measuring room sizes and some change. I replaced the plastic and did not bother to check the lock before I replaced plastic surround. The lock is toast. Anyone experienced buying a new matching lock like an old one? The truck does have keyless entry and it still works.
This is how thieves break into alot of cars. Honda's, GM, Lexus, Mercedes. I think they should just change the law that when a thief gets caught stealing they get their hand cut off.
I hear about this occasionally. So what are the crooks doing? Popping the plastic to get an easier path to removing the lock/key set?
Is this any different than tossing a rock through the window to get what ever is visible inside the truck?
I'm apprehensive to put the bumper sticker on that says "This truck is protected by Sturm Ruger, Dan Wesson, and Sam Colt" for fear that someone might just think I left one of my good buddies in the truck. (Which I don't. I never drink or drive alone. I drink and drive with friends. -Usually Sam. Sometimes Dan. Sometimes Sturm, and Sam.)

I think it could all be fixed with a piece of sheet metal under the skin behind the lock. There is a commercial item available that does the same thing. If insurance companies would raise enough hell about the ease of breaking into modern vehicles, maybe we could get something done.
There was no visable damage to door lock keyhole. So I didn't think to insert key to check before reassembling the handle and interior items. I thought about buying the blank door handle that is used on 4 door super cabs without external lock mechanism. Could not find one on net. $15.00 for locking one plus shipping on one I bought.
A pressure alarm will go off if the door is opened or window busted.
A vibration/noise alarm will activate if the window is busted or they try to tow.
A standard door ararm if the door is opened.
Makes no matter what you do, if it is perceived that you have the least protected vehicle on the lot or if there is something inside they really want, THEY WILL GET IT!
I've said it a few times before:
Make a realistic-looking live animal transport permit sticker and put it on your window. Then put another on that says Danger: Live Rattlesnakes (or whatever) and mount it. Then toss a bag or cage on the floorboard with very real looking snakes in it and a loose one with a tail hanging out. Bet'cha they will leave your rig alone, I sure would.
I actually did this with my old truck when they were hitting everything in my neighborhood. I wasn't touched.
