double roller timing chain

have a double roller timing chain for 1987 ford engine want to know is advanced for torque or is retard for torque

Where do want want the torque? Advance will get it at lower rpm's, retard will move it higher as well as your power band.

Talk to the cam manufacturer. They can tell you how to set it up for your application. Normally they are run straight up but some are ground with an offset.

Usually advancing the cam timing gives a bit more on the low end and helps fuel mileage.
