F25YR748158 Vin. 129 JM F250 N81 A 24 07500 172 4000 73 on the door tag. Transimission code is A, My question is I just bought a shifter from summit, it is a hurst floor shifter, for a three speed ford 352. number at summit is HUU-3666809. when I went to install it, I could not see any linkage to connect it to. Is it even going to be possible to install this shifter? ( for peolpe who cannot decode the vin, the truck is a 1966 f-250) http://www.mustangmods.com/data/11939/huu3666809_w.jpg

I looked though my summit catalog, but did not see it. Did your Hurst shifter
come with the square plates and linkage rods, the square plates mount to
the trans where the linkage arms are, there are nuts that hold the old linkage arms on the stud they are round with flat sides the holes in the plates (the ones that are round with flat sides) slip on the studs, linkage rods hook up on the same plates, but in the round holes (the ones without flat sides )
P.S Welcome to ( FTE )
Nice pick on the shifter!

HUU-3670027, I think I may have to buy this install kit from summit. These parts are not in the catalog, they are just found thriugh the web site. I am haveing a hard time finding the shifter linkage. I just took a quick look, but it appeared that everything is internal, I did not see any external linkage. (like on my 65 four speed mustang).
Thank you for your help. And thank you for the welcome greeting as well. I am planning on doing a total restoration on this truck (as soon as I get into my new house) that my gradfather bought new in 66, my dad has had it for years useing as a truck to haul and pull with. This truck starts right up with very little time needed for warm up (about ten secsond with choke pulled half way) and it will idle no problem. Just did a tune up (split fire plugs, taylor 8mm wires, distributer cap and rotor, oil and filter, accel air filter, MSD coil.) I just want to drive it a little before tearing it apart. I would like to put the shifter on if possible with the transmission that is in it. Thanks again for all those who can help.
After doing a search, this is how I came up with your answer in your second
post I read that you said ( there was no external linkage ) if the trans is still
the factory trans then you have a 4 speed! Please check out the second
post by ( barry ) in this link!
Oh. I guess I do have a four speed. Damn. I did not know to count the granny gear. Well back to the drawing board. Thank you Pro Street, I really appreciate your help, and understanding of a newby.
