Too Many Miles ???

I thinking of buying a 1999 F350 with 192,000. The guy is asking 16,800. I've got him to come down to 15,000. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Go to kbb.com and plug in the options and see what book is on it. Personally, I think he is still 3 to 5 grand too high, even if it is in excellent (showroom) condition, but that may be because I am familiar with the market around Denver. Good luck with your PSD search.

I'm with Guzzle on this one. Sounds like someone is having a hard time getting rid of their baby, maybe. I paid 13,500 for a '99 F250 Supercab w/150,000. No rust, good paint, and a cigarette burn in the roof liner. I've had to replace the waterpump and brake calipers and discs all the way around and it needs a new hydroboost. The PSD may last 400,000 miles but the rest of the truck isn't.

Here in Cali, these trucks still go for premium dollars. I bought my 2000 xtra-cab 4x4 for $20K and 100K miles, which was about the norm.

I purchased a used '99 F-350, Crew Cab, long bed for $13,000 in January. It had 150,000 miles on the truck. I live in Southern California

I've got a 01 7.3 and an 05 6.0!! I would not sell the 01 Lariat with over 200,000 miles for less than $40,000.00 The body is in perfect Con., it has a new BTS tranny! The int is nearly perfect!! Sounds to me like you might be getting a good deal!!

your deal depends on the market where you live... drive around and look at some trucks on the lots at the stealerships... when they are closed... and check kbb and nada books... do the research... knowledge is power... this could be a good deal... or... it could be somebody that put too many miles on his truck too quick and now he is looking to sell it for all the money just because it is a diesel... i do KNOW one thing... a dealer wouldn't give him anywhere near that money... i know that is comparing wholesale to retail, but really... check around...!

What are the specs on the truck? From what I can see, it sounds a bit steep for a truck with nearly 200K on it. Not to mention it's almost seven years old. Talk him down to $13,500 and maybe you're getting somewhere!
