Noticed the other day that coolant is leaking down past the crank. I do believe this is the first indication that my waterpump is a dead man walkin. So needless to say it is parked in the driveway till this weekend....
I called around for $$$ on water pumps but what I want to know is if anyone has any favorable or non recommendations.
From shopping around I came to the following water pump suppliers..
Motorcraft - ~$100
ASC - ~$52
Cardone - ~$63
as far as waterpumps go buy the cheapet ; save your wallet. Also if you want something like motorcraft buy one from your local international truck dealer more than likely they will be cheaper.
If you do get one from IH ensure it is for a FORD engine as the fan pulley attachment points are a different distances from the block. I would get the Cardone......
Also ensure you replace the bolts in the correct locations, there should be 2 new ones in the box with instructions. Seal the heads and threads of the 2 upper and lower bolts. Torque is 14 ftlbs
PS if you put the wrong length bolts in the upper or lower locations you can contact the IP gear and break the pump shaft or the crank gear and do damage too......
If you need printed instructions with pictures.........email me
Many of the reman pumps are all done by the same company then shipped out for other places to put in their own boxes. Personally I shy away from NAPA products. I've never had anything but bad luck with things I bought from them. I know others who swear by them. But I've bought a bad oil pump, 4 bad water pumps, 2 bad fuel pumps and countless other items that I had to drive 50 miles one way to return.
