Does anyone know if its possible to convert a 4x2 into a 4x4, i have an '89 F150 Custom and its a 4x2 but it was built onto a 4x4 frame. Does anyone know how the process would go to put the transfer case and all that in there, because im looking into doing a 6 inch lift and getting 35's put on and hopefully would like to get into off-roading and maybe some mud bogging eventually but i want to convert the truck first (for obvious reasons, lol). Gimme some feedback. Thanks

Reason: info addition
It's actually not that tough to convert to 4wd. I just finished installing the t-case shifter in my formerly 2wd '92 f150. Man is it cool to see the little lights in the dash glow "4x4" and "Low Range"!
Anyway, if you've got the right tools, facilities, know-how, and patience to wait for deals on the parts or access to a donor truck, it's pretty straightforward to make your truck a 'stock' 4wd. An SAS and lift, etc. is a little more involved subject that I'll leave to the experts.
BTW, 2wd and 4wd trucks have the same frame. All the suspension and axle bits bolt into the same locations, though the 4wd rear springs are 1/2" wider than 2wd, so you'd have to swap hangers and shackles, or be lazy like me and leave rear stock 2wd.
hey thanks for the info, im not that big on vehicle composition yet, but i can use all the info i can get because ive been wanting to build a truck for offroading since i was little and used to watch monster trucks and stuff with my father... but i was (or thought i was told) it was built on a 4x4 frame, but maybe i misunderstood or they didnt know what they were talking about either, lol... thanks for the info, ill keep my eyes open for components... also, anyone with info on the lifting and whatever other stuff on actually getting the parts to fit in there let me know so i know what to keep an extra eye out for... Thanks again
