79 bronco drivetrain swap

I have a 79 Bronco I am replacing the 351-m (that blew up) with a 302 and aod. My question is will the aod bolt to the transfer case If I remove the rear tail shaft?
I would like to keep overdrive and the motor has alot of power from rebuild.

t-case to adapter has the same bolt pattern. The driveshafts might be off a little. The technical articles section has a how-to on the aod swap

why would you want to replace a c-6 with an aod?

Fuel mileage and the AOD can be built to handle anything a 302 can dish out. Plus it has a lower first gear for crawling. I'm planning an E4OD swap for my 79 Bronco, But I'm keeping big block.

can't say I agree with you and I've rebuilt several of both of them...anyway to each his own (Lastly I have my C-6's in back of 460 and 400M's...little different than a 5.0)

Granted if you have big block with lots of ponies the C6 would be the better choice between the 2. But for stock to mild HP the AOD can be built to hold up quite repectable.

Pacer is the trans your wanting to use a 4X4 unit?

Hooker no it's a moustang unit. So is the 302 h.o I am planning to use.
Started thinking of 351 but gas prices ended all ideas and it's just a toy I am building for deer camp.

I'd run the 351-m in the bronco already if it were not for these two things:

1) the motor is junk (body as well which leads me to this)
2) I am installing an 85 ranger on top of the frame once the sandblaster gets done with it. They stated 3 weeks one week to go.

I would also run the c-6 but it has the wrong bellhousing to go on the 302. Gas prices once again keeps me running a small block.

Either way My t/case bolted to back of unit needing none of the mods the article suggested. Maybe due to it being a hurst shifter for the case not sure.
