Hello, I have a 99 EXPY, it has been faithful for over 100,000 miles.
I have the 5.4 4wd and have taken it places JEEPs (wagoneer and cherokee) people have decided not to go (wimps)...
Now the o/d light on the shift lever flashes until i start driving, but doess't seen to affect the performance of the transmission or engine.
and sometimes i have to put pressure on the gear shift lever to make it start.
Now I have a service engine soon light and codes that read
1702 trs ckt intermittent fault
i have searched the web, and these forums. and we looked in the book with the snap-on code reader the transmission place used but to no avail.
I love my EXPY, even with the rear wiper having to wiggle it before rain problem.
Please email me directly or respond here.
Thanks

Im guessing that if you have to wiggle the lever in order to start the truck you might be experiencing the park/neutral/ safety switch problem Also check out the shifter and linkage to see weather its loose or something. Good luck and keep us updated.
WELL, I broke down and picked up a manual for it and a neutral safety switch. did the repair, and now to wait and see if it recurrs again.. Thanks to all for the information.
Oh, I also programmed the power locks to respond to the remote from my wife's windstar. NOW JUST 1 remote and 2 keys, no longer a POCKETFULL of entry remotes and keys, Again. I learned it here...thanks.

Can you point me in the direction as to where you found this information? It would be nice to have the Mustang and the Expy on the same remote.
Easy enough, just have your remotes that you want the car to LEARN handy.
THIS WILL ERASE THE REMOTES ALREADY PROGRAMMED FOR THE VEHICLE SO HAVE THEM HANDY ALSO
turn the key from OFF to the ON (not quite to start position but to normal ON position) rapidly, (8 times in 10 seconds) the locks will cycle once, (this erases the remote codes it was programmed with from the factory, and OPENS the recieve function in the computer to learn new ones) leave the key in the ON position then hit the lock button on each of the remotes that you want the vehicle to learn, each time you hit the lock button on the remote they should cycle the locks. Turn the key off and you are done.
Have fun and enjoy 1 remote life!!!
Glad to help let me know how it goes..
Ian
