OK. Time to go with some new tires. I really, REALLY love the Xterrains. But my wife does not and this summer we have at least 3 long trips planned. She has informed me she will not be a happy camper (literally) if she "has to sit in that howling beast for hours on end"
I must admit, after about 25k on them, they do howl a bit. OK, a lot. But nothing had come close to thier off road ability. I've had both BFG and Pro Comp A/Ts. Not impressed
So, I need 4 super quiet, super aggressive 35" tires. Any suggestions?
Although one user has reported two blowouts, and pretty much dammed the tire on this forum, everyone else that I talk to can't say enough about the Interco Trxus tires (from same guys that make Super Swampers). I'm not talking about the funky Trxus STS's that everyone seems to have, but the original Trxus MT's.
...I am no expert, and have certainly not checked out every tire there is...
....however BFG Mud Terrains are the tires I ran for years, and the tires our team raced on, and while they are *not* super quiet and they are *not* super long lasting i thought (think?) that they are a KILLER compromise for a guy who needs better off-roadability than the BFG AT KO's, but can't tolerate really really loud nasty tires.
my $.02

I suggest Michelien ( sorry for the spelling ). Quiet, long lasting, tough, and expensive.
I had a set of c load range on a suburban that I had for over 78,000 mile with life still in them.
Hey guys, thanks for the input. Are these on or off road tires? I might have to settle for an A/T, but I was hoping for at least an M/T. That's one reason I was really leaning toward the Toyo M/T. Apparently they seem to be more quiet than the others in that category.
I have the Pro Comps on My X ( 37's ) and yes I can hear them getting louder as time goes. I think the NITTO Terra Grapplers are a greatTire and are way less exspensive than the BFG's I had a set of 285/75/16 on mine before I lifted it and they where great. Also the Toyo's also make a great tire good luck with the wife thing been there done that to many time with my truck
