4 inch down pipe, flared to 5 inch, no muffler, then flaring to 6 inch and coming up through your bed with a big herkin' 6 inch stack. Megaphone effect will make it as loud as possible.

Best sounding powerstroke I ever heard had a 4" down pipe then 5" pipe all the way over the axle to a 6" tip. Absolutely the best powerstroke i have ever heard other than the 5" stacks. If i had a utility bed or something of the sort, a set of 6" stacks would be the way I would go..
just using the stock pipe size with no cat and a flowthough muffler or no muffler will give you the same performance as those big expensive kits. when using a flowthrough muffler all you are doing is making it less 'luggy/mack truck' sounding under load. seriously maybe 2-3 HP less. the outlet on the turbo is you biggest restriction. its only about 2.5" IIRC, so by going 3.5" tube you are not gaining any restriction within several feet of pipe (it may take about 5-7 feet of pipe to abtain restriction). just my opinion.
like mrbass and kwikk said, stacks are loud, i should know, i have a pair of my own. under about 2000 rpm, it sounds like a Peterbilt (i've been told this countless times, i pull up somewhere "man, that was you?? i thought a Peterbilt was pulllin in") but as soon as you hit over 2000 RPM, be prepared, cause it WILL roar. with the windows down, you know they are there. with them up, its comfortable to ride with. kinda monotonus if you don't have the radio on, but with my stereo on, doesn't bother rme much.
does anyone make a complete dual stack exhaust for the psd...? just wondering... i'll probably never be able to talk the wife into it anyway... but i can dream can't i..?!?

Yep.
I hear Kwik fire'n-up every morning - 30 MILES AWAY!!!
www.stylinconcepts.com is one place, but it runs like 700 smackeroos (another no-no probably with a wife) i pieced mine together from online truck stores, truck shops her ein SA, and truck boneyard for around 500. i've seen a couple setups on ebay as well, pre-fabbed and everyhitng, but shipping would have run me 50-100$$ over my setup. i've seen some setups on ford-trucks.com classifieds as well.
hey Johnny, keep dreamin, you'll get 'em. dad thought it a bad idea, mom thought it looked cool, sister was indifferent.....funny, they said the same thing about my tattoo....
i hear the Walker BTM (big truck muffler) is a good one. talk to Dale at TYMAR Perfomance for your downpipe, he's the man. www.tymarperformance.com (just call the number, he'll answer)
