300 six ram tuning?

Looking for confirmation/opinions on the following:

Having recently bought my third Ford pickup with a 300 six, I was curious that this one (EFI 1995) has a definite power boost at about 2000 RPM that seems to last through the mid-3000s. My carburated 1984 did not have that. Recently reading some books on engine performance, I noticed that ram tuning will put a boost effect on an engine over a range of about 1000 to 1800 rpms and that the lenght of the tube dictates at what rpm the effect kicks in. The lowest RPM point for ram tuning the book gave was 3000 rpm with about 31-inch intake tubes. Based on their table I would expect about 40-inch plus tubes to get the ram effect to kick in at about 2000 rpm. My '95 has six tubes curving about 20 to 24 inches up to the throttle body box, I assume that these tubes are somewhat tuned by Ford engineers and in combo with the two long plastic intake tubes from the throttle body to the air cleaner, must be creating this ram tuning effect to a mild, but fun degree. Does this make sense?

300 six ram tuning?

You are on track ram air has been used seen the earliest autos .The fifties it became more common even in regular passenger cars, the chrysler hemi in the 300d was an extreme for the day.The article you read didn't get into shape or diameter very well or they would not have stated 3000 rpm was the lowest rpm ram effect works. Smaller diameter tubes speed up air faster than larger diameter tubes increasing torque. Tapering the diameter so the air speeds up as it moves down the tube also will add torque. the ford FI's are so refined that removing or adding 1/4" will change the power band for the worse. The bad milage of the newer 300's come from poor combustion chamber designs. If ford took advantage of the long rods already in use and went to a faster burning chamber and higher port disgns, for an example look at their aluminum high performance head with no water jacket. Ford seldom learns from their mistakes thats the biggest reason for the on and off agin racing programs. When a new design comes out usualy takes racers 2yrs to learn to live with it ford never changes till it hurts their sales,HATE TO ADMIT THEY MADE A MISTAKE.Ford is back to ram air because without it their combustion chambers wouldn't make the grade. They have john fueling designing and building their newer racing heads and that tells me something about their confidence in their engineers. Ram is good for torque but high horse power needs lots of fuel and air look at the FI GT40 engines ram air at its best nd its tunable by changing 1 plate. If you haven't seen anything on it I'd look up some lititure on it.
