need advice for 1997 explorer limited
Cut to the chase: the two lower brake lights (not the one over the rear door) are not working...I checked the bulbs, then fuses and those are fine. And when they aren't working, niether is the auto door locks when putting the car into motion - whether that's activated by tranny ? I'm at a loss on this one. The truck is in excellent shape - no damage to any lights past or present. It seems to be intermittent as well, as occasionally the lights and auto door locks will work. Anyone have any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like good advise, thanks! I'll check that first. So where is the module located? (I realize I should have a manual for it and will be getting one immediately) Thanks again for your help...

If you have a lamps out display on the dash, you also have the lamps out warning module. It's under the center console.
The best manual for electrical problems is the Ford "electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual" from www.helminc.com or you might find it on ebay.
