i had the same problem on my 1988 f-150 4.9 . i t had a blinking check engine light in the morning after sitting all night and cold outside (winter time in my ) the check engine light would blink on and off on the way to work and everthing ran ok. i ignored it and about 3 months (spring time) i had a bad battery and i re[laced it and no more check engine light blinking.
