I did some searching before posting this. I mainly saw people post EGTs after they put a tuner on it. Was curious if anyone had some pre-turbo EGTs #s on a stock 6.0L.
I tried a few 0-75 mph runs with stock program, economy program, and performance program.
I know I should probably get some aftermarket exhaust on it. Was just wondering if anyone elses got that hot on a stock program. 1100 just seemed a tad high when comparin to the tuned temps.
It improved power greatly. Ran a 16.5 stock in the 1/4, on performance tune it ran 14.22@94 with no other changes. Driving it around is so much nicer too, feels like a totally different truck. It did help out my mileage also. Went from 11 mpg around town to ~14-15 mpg around town. Unloaded highway went from 15 to 18 (got 20 on 1 trip on time). If I could keep my foot off the throttle it would probably be a lot more. Havn't tried the new max power tune yet, waiting for exhaust
I dont get 1100 instantly, but if I have it floored, ill get there. The fastest I can get to is about 70mph on 100HP mode and hit around 1350. I am talking and all out sprint.
"The only time I have seen 1100 on my egt is when puling my trailer average right around 900 full throttle to about 75 at 28psi stock."
Me too with an all stock truck. Stock exhaust, no tuner.
Level road:
55mph - 4psi - 575 degrees pre-turbo
65mph - 6psi - 650 degrees pre-turbo
0-70mph foot to the floor going through the gears, empty truck - It'll hit
29psi - 1000 degrees pre-turbo.
Pulling a hill, towing my 6,000 lb camp trailer, @~3000 feet of elevation, 60mph (twisty road), although it would hold speed in fifth gear, EGT's were higher, (1200), than when dropping to fourth gear maintaining the same speed. ~18psi. I can see that I will want some exhaust modifications in the near future for those long Cascade and Rocky mountain passes later in the heat of summer. .
Sorry, I don't have my post-turbo gauge/probe hooked up yet.
Those EGT numbers match mine almost identically for my stock truck. Towing 8000 lbs up a good grade got me 1225 EGT. I put a 4" exhaust on to drop the EGT while towing, and got a reduction of 100-150. Last weekend towing trip the highest I ever saw was 1100, and I was pushing it on purpose. This is good. The bad is I lost 2-3 MPG unloaded with the exhaust change. Watch out, as larger exhaust seems to result in worse unloaded mileage. My towing mileage seemed to be uneffected however. I also didn't see any power improvement (or degradation), towing or unloaded.
I pulled the manifold off to see that the thickness of the cast at the elbo wasn't what I expected. So, at the flat spot in the manifold between two cylinders I used the thicker area to drill and tap.

Mines about the same but I haven't seen over 1000 yet 980 max
Will be towing next week so I'll see what those look like.
