Does anyone have a brake squeal? My Screw does it when I first hit the brakes, but after you're on them for a couple of seconds, it goes away. Any ideas?
I have 17K on my Supercab and my brakes are squeaking as you described. Had them checked twice at the dealer and everything is okay...doesn't seem right though.
My brakes have been squealing intermittently for the last 4,000 miles. Sometimes they will squeal at every stop for a few days sraight, then they will not squeal for a week. But every time they squeal, it is always at 40-45mph down to about 30mph.
I may have to try some Brake Quiet. I believe the pads are at fault though.
Any parts store should have brakequiet. Make sure you buy the brakequiet and not the brakeclean. Spray a layer of the stuff on the back of the pad and let it dry for about 10 minutes, then put the pads back on. Watch out, this stuff is sticky!
If you're in a somewhat humid environment and the truck sits for any length of time (like overnight), it seems normal (in my experience) for the rotors to rust a little bit and produce a squeal until the rust is scrubbed off by the pad after which the brakes will be quiet again.
