I have a 1969 F-100 that i am looking to put headers on. The motor is a 390. I am in the process of rebuilding so please do not shoot me down with the old get a ruler and measure trick because the motor is not going to be able to go back in the truck until it is finished. I am wanting to send the heads to the machine shop to be ported but need my set of headers to go with them so that they can match the exhaust ports to the headers.
Does anyone know of a set of headers that will fit and not have any kind of problems with clearing anything in the truck?
Brandon, if the machine shop is just going to open up the exhust runners, normaly you just need to supply the exhust gasket you are going to use. Is commonly called gasket maching. several company sell headers to fit your truck. But I would strongly recomend you buy the best quality header you can afford, even if that means cutting something else out. Quality means good materials and most important design.
If I keep the FE block in my Highboy I am going to try and get Ford OEM cast iron headers. Those will give me the pressure relief need for a torquey truck motor, and relieve some heat from the exhust ports.

I recently got headers for my 67 f100 with a 390 and went with the Dynomax headers, and ordered new gaskets from Jegs instead of using the cheap ones with the headers. If you dont want to open your wallet up then go with the Dynomax (they sound great) or the Hooker Comp.
I didnt have any clearence problems except if you have a big starter then just keep it on there and jack up the engine 4-5" and the left side header should slide right in. For the right side I didnt even have to jack the engine up. I didnt install the headers from the ground either.
