Leaking in reverse!!!
The weekend before I was driving up the same mountain road and noticed my trans had a slow drip when I got to the top. It stopped as soon as the trans cooled down and I had no problems at all driving around in 2wd. He said that when your in 4wd or reverse the clutches dont lock up and thats why the fluid got super heated. You can laugh if you want but I suggest you do some research on it as I did before I got my trans rebuilt.

First the laughter is not at you. It was Pop's comment of "huh?" after your first reply. Pop didn't understand "4 Lo" , so I kidded him on it.
This is good information about the transmission slippage in reverse. I've always known that the auto would puke if it was allowed to run hot.....and then would be fine after it got back to operating temps. Now it sounds like the TransGo Tugger kit that I just installed in my tranny will eliminate this type of episode. The kit is supposed to eliminate slippage, and will allow downshifts that are there immediatly instead of whenever the transmission gets around to it. It is very useful when your heading down grade with a load and need some engine braking.....like right now.
Thanks for the information.
Take care.
