I posted in the Differential and tranny section but no one can help me out yet. Hope that someone from this section can help me out.
I just put 4.56 gears in my 97' f-150 however when putting the front end back together, the slip ring that slides when the vacuum pump is activated to engage the axles into 4 wheel drive fell out. I can not remember which way it was in there. I put in in both ways and will work both ways but which way is correct. The cone end toward the differential or the cone end toward the passenger side wheel???
They are working out great. I am running 36" mickey thompson baja's. 14.5 wide.
For the moment, I still have the 4.6 with the 5 speed manual and this puts my RPM around 2500 in 5th gear at 70MPH. I am getting ready to put my 302 (350HP) and a C6 with a NP-208 case in so that will change the highway driving alot.
36 x 14.5 's? nice! how much lift does the truck have?
and for the 302, you mean to say your gonna put that in your 97? wont you have problems passing smog/and/or inspections? Also, a C6 is a three speed with no overdrive. Third gear is only a 1:1 ratio, Your RPMs will be even higher like 3000-3200 rpm at 70mph with the C6.
It has a total of 9 inches of lift. 6 and 3. Luckily I live in Michigan,we do not have any inspections. At least not yet. This truck does not get drivin very much and is mainly being built for the sand dunes so the highway RPM's won't matter to much. Got an email, I will send you a pic.
