Questions

I have a cople of quetions to ask. first one if your standing in front of my 1985 BII on the right hand side(under the hood) up front by the radiator there is a box there with a hose or cable running back to the tranny(i think)
any ideas as to what it might be?
and # 2 is there a way to lift the front end without buying a lift kit. ie 1/2 ton springs or something of the sort. i want to keep the front end geometry good but rougness of the ride doesent matter.
Thanks Richard

for the box i do not know....without buying a lift kit you can prolly use the spring pads from like an f-150 theyhave a 1.5 inch hieght difference than the b2's and will raide the springs that hig.. just make sure they fit well so they dont fall out... or just go with a body lift

i mean the physical pad under which the springs sit.. its thicker and has a step that the springs sit on from an f-150 early years though.. for coilovers .. im not so sure that would work.. ihave yet to see coilovers fit or made for a b2 without swapping in a live axle

I dont understand what you mean about a live axle?My axle is almost like a solid axle but is split almost in the middle. and it has coil springs. i meant coil springs not coil over. sorry bout that.

the bronco has a d28 ford IFS suspension...its independent... when i say live i mean .. like you would find on a jeep to where if you take a buymp the entire length of the axle moves up or down whereas ours only half of it moves up or down....a good site to look stuff up fro this vewhicle is jamesduff.com they specialize in bronc2 and rangers and old style broncs... but for a cheap lift .. its only like 90 for a 2 in body lift .... with 2 inches you shoudl be able to fit 31's pretty well and thatwould be a good start to a buildup i spose... i'm not sure i understand the questiosn you poseed as i was a little out there at 3 am .... but im awake now and apologize for confusing you

I have no clue what the box is.. maybe mine doesn't have it?

So if you're wanting to lift the front, why not put in 2" spacers, but get the ones with with the cams. I've heard you can get coils from a 90 or so F-150 but you have to bend the little finger thingys that hold the coil in at the top.

How to the spacers work that your talking about?do I have to take the springs out?Or do they go in between the springs?
Nobody nows about the box?maybe I will take a picture. If it is for filtiration, whats it fitler?
Thanks for the help. -Richard

You have to take the front springs off, put the spacer down on the bottom, and put the spring back on. It basically raises the spring up 2". Then you have to reallign the wheels, as with any suspension mod.

Someone guessed that the box is a charcoal box. If that is the case then it is for fuel fume filtration, part of your emissions system. Why are you wondering about it? Does it seem to be broken, or causing problems? Or are you just curious as to its function?
