super cab shoulder belts

I have a 91 f 150 s/c and I would like to know if any body has put in in shoulder seat belts for the back seats? I have just bought the truck and I would like to be able to put my sons car seat int the back.

We put the grandchildrens car seats in with the belts provided.
Why do you need the shoulder belts?

all the ones we have seen need a shoulder belt.I forgot to mention that my son is close to 40 lbs(which seems to be the cut off for lap belt car seats)

Most all booster seats used today require the shoulder belt. Many true car seats are good up to 80-100lbs, the "key" here is the height of the back and where the childs head rests against it. Once his head starts to stick over the top of the back its time to check sale ads and start looking for a high-back unit. (Once his ears are at the top, you need a new seat NOW)

I'm in the shopping phase myself and have found many that work with just a lapbelt but I'm thinking of bringing him to the frontseat in a booster. I need to check the law* here but since I don't have a passengerside airbag, he'll be safe over there. (would not put him in the middle btw)

Cheers,
Popa Tim

*NY says all children 12 and under need to be in the back, i'm not sure if a truck is under different rules as many don't have a backseat

My crewcab came with real belts, but I've added them to older cars before, and I feel to do it right it requires welding.

Essentially, when you get your belts and the mounts (new, or from the junkyard), there will be two bolts that bolt into the roof pillar support structure, and either the floor or the bottom of the pillar next to the rear seat where the lock clasps to the body shell.

EIther way, the easiest way of installing this is to go to a hardware store and pick up a grade 8 nut that matches the size and thread of your seat belt bolts, and weld them to the support structure of the vehicle. You do not want to weld them to the inside of the body panels where you will burn through and create body damage. You want to weld them to the structure that supports the cab's outer skin.

A professional welder (espeicalyl a tig welder) could do this without any damage to your outside paint.
