well it is better than putting nothing in there, I personally have run ATF in my manual. But it does call for a thicker oil, i believe (and someone correct me if i am wrong) the tranny calls for 90 weight gear oil, I think. but it wont hurt your transmission. if that is what you are asking.
It depends on what transmission you have. For the TK and Mitsubishi transmissions, the factory does indeed call for 90W gear lube. For the later Mazda M5OD transmissions, you'll burn them up with gear lube. The factory calls for ATF.
well i am in the middle of doing mine and there is a lot of pins holding everything together that need to be removed before things will come a part. Too bad you live in AZ or I'd say you could send it to me and I could do it for you.
