One of my cousins looked at putting Heddman's on his 4x4. We compared his truck to mine and couldn't find any reason why they wouldn't work. Allegedly, some of the earlier 4x4's had the transfer case linkage on the passenger's side and that's why headers wouldn't fit.
I don't understand what the deal is anyway, how hard would it be to make a happy medium set for both or another set for a 4x4, I know nobody's great on build up's for the six, but jease you think about it, more ppl are likely to put headers on there 4x4 for muddin, pulling, whatever, 2wd you got a street rod. Plus aren't crossmembers for the engine the same on a 2wd and 4wd, that could be the only thing it could hit, otherwise the 4x4 transfer case is only a problem on the left side (no exhaust there), so there should be the same room down there. And if like u said silver streak about the transfer case thing, u would think they could take the 1/2 hour of reseach to increase there sales, but idk all a guy can do is try I guess and hope they let u return them, I'll get em from summit. Right now i have an exhaust leak even after I just put in new gaskets and looked the manifold over, cuz I just rebuilt it, so I figured just get headers and be done, and the carb is a POS, so once I get the money it 4 barrel time.
80-96 f150 frames are the same for 2wd and 4wd. x-case linkages and stuff is usually on the drivers side so fitment shouldnt be an issue. im gunna be getting some headers for the f-bomb this summer so ill post up about my install.
My truck came with some set of unknown headers. The one outlet pointed straight at the crossmember, but the muffler guy bent a tight radius bend in the pipe and it cleared. From the flange to the crossmember was probably only 6", though
I'm deallin with a buddy who has headers in his bronco and the one prob I see is that they completely blocked in the starter, which happens to be what he needs to replace. So now it's all about pulling the header off just to get a started out. Grrrr
Redneck Cowboy, I understand you are from Weston. I have some friends that used to live there and also farm 2 miles west of Wahoo-Meduna is their name, Bob and Bob Jr. I'm from Lincoln myself.
Can also attest that the Dynomax headers drop in no problems on my 1980 Ford 4X4. Headers are very much worth it. Ditch the one barrel, get an Offy intake and small four barrel and you'll have a runner.

Ya I know bob, right on the way to wahoo
Anyways that's all good to here, those suckers are going on as soon as I pay off my rebuild, I'll have to see how much money I have left, but I'll rake in enought money this summer to pay for the offy and 4 barrel to, I don't have to pay for gas or insurence on anything due to the county taking my lisence for a couple months, so I'll be cruisin on the 4 wheeler to work, Aside from that though the truck will be fully built by the wahoo truck pull, and my friend said he would pay my entrance fee, b/c he just wants to hear it scream down the track, I'll also have it build up for the bruno mud drags to, man I can't wait.
