Hello, I have a 97 E -250 with a 4.2 leaking water only when the defroster on.It looks like its coming from the inside of that black box in the right hand corner. Its not heating up yet, Is this normal?
Are you sure you don't have the same leak when the AC is on? The black box sounds like the AC evaporator. I don't know about the E series vans, but other vehicles I've had run the AC when in defrost to defog the winshield faster. If that's the case, some water dripping is normal.
yes the A/C compressor is run in the defrost mode.
if it is leaking into the van, the drain is probably plugged, look from the underside of the van at the bottom of that black box, it is a pain but blow it out with an air hose. you might be able to find it from the top side with a mirror and flash light. while you are at it, clean out the drain in the air intake under the front windshield.
Hi ,
My 1975 Ford 1 Ton Van ( Holiday Rambler RV ) was losing water and fogged the inside of the windows badly in the Winter ( not related to the AC ) . It was the heater core and was a job I dreaded . It turned out to be fairly easy to replace .
Can't tell from your post if it's just water or actually coolant leaking, and where it is pooling, on the floor passenger side or where? Doesn't sound normal unless you are in an area where there is very high humidity and you use your A/C. Do you have to refill the coolant very often? Windshield washer used often and a leak exists? Can't quite visualize how water would get to a spark plug from anywhere inside the vehicle. Anyway, some quick thoughts on your subject. Hope its just condensation and you can clear the drain tube as suggested in a previous reply. Good Luck, Alex
It isnt coolant ,because the coolant level is full. Also it doesnt leak on inside floor board it leaks on passenger side ground. It s coming from under the AC evaporator like al_e._gator said.
