Well if it were me and I had it to do all over I would go with the regular cab plenty of usefull storage behind the seat plus a shorter more parkable truck I bought the super cab I like it but I dont use all the space and have only put a person in the back about three times.
I have a 05 STX 4X4 SCab, and love the space. It has plenty of room inside. I was actually suprised at the room. I've had 6 foot tall people ride in the back with plenty of leg room. And with the 6.5 ft. box, it has plenty of hauling room in the rear. It may it a bit long, but come on, it's a truck. If you want a little thing to make parking easier, buy a car or a Ranger.
I have done some thinking, and think that I might go with the short bed (5.5') superCab. I love the flareside, but would like the extra room better I think. Just have to see If I can afford it. By the way, the short bed supercab is only about 6" longer than the regular cab, and thats not much when it comes to maneuverability!
I hunt and fish a lot so a super cab is the way. Need a little extra room to pack where items will be kept dry and safe from theft.
If you want a "town truck" and don't use the cab space to carry stuff that too easily dissappears or can't stay in the weather, then a regular cab is OK.
But to me, getting a regular cab and then putting a box in the bed is inferior to have the super cab with a shorter bed.

Good points, but you lost me with the shorter bed remark. Supercab has the 6.5 bed, right? I have seen reg cabs with 6.5 and 8, and crew cabs with 5.5.
On my Reg cab, I have a Fold-a-Cover hard tonneau, and that gives me the biggest darn trunk in the world. I could have a fiver mount, etc under there if I wanted.
Fun would be a reg cab with a 5.5 bed. I checked into it, but can't be done, darn it. The one foot gap would be between the cab and the front of the bed, not at the rear.
Chris
SuperCabs are available in 5.5, 6.5 and 8.0 foot beds.Take your pick and have fun!
Called the local dealer, they said no way on the 5.5 bed on anything but the Screw. Not saying your wrong, they have been wrong more times than any poster here... LOL.
Really won't bother now, too much time/effort/money invested in what I have, but it still would have been neat to have a 5.5 bed on a Regular cab. Now that's a sport truck!
Chris
Chris, The only way I know is because I almost bought one.It was when I first started looking at the new body style and did not know they put a 5.5 footer on a SCab.I passed on it and it sat on the dealer's lot a long time.I also think the Reg. Cab with the 5.5 bed would be fun, especially if it had about a hundred extra HP.
The brochure shows the 5'5" styleside bed as an option on all SCab trim levels except XL. It claims it is available on STX, XLT, FX4, and Lariat but I have only seen it in STX trim. Every time I see one I have to do a doubletake.
I like the lines better onb a Scab too. The Screw looks like an Explorer with a tail to me and more "grocery getter" than truck unless you have company logo on it etc. Anyway, I like the way the rear doors open up so that I can just drop a gym bag in the back and climb into the drivers seat. I can sit in the back comfortably even for long trips-we're really only talking about a 6" difference of foot space I believe.
