1967 f-100 360 3 on the tree. about 50 miles of towing per week could be contributing to this problem.
1st gear is a little noisy, 2nd is very noisy and feels like grinding while accelerating, 3rd is very smooth and never gives me any problems.
The clutch is wearing out, soon to be replaced....does this sound like a clutch problem or does the tranny need a tune-up...or am I lookin at extensive work??
tranny shops around here are just gonna give me a run around, most suggest new tranny without even lookin at it, any advice is greatly appreciated!!!
I suspect the tranny shop knows you aint gonna spend the money rebuilding the tranny when you can replace it for a lot less money. I have become shiftless and would give you a manual if I had one laying on the floor. I have never discussed price with them but most shops only work on automatics.
ok...so i'm gonna go find a used tranny.......what tranny is in my truck. the 360 isn't stock, i'm thinkin it came with a 300 I-6. so 1967 f-100 300 3/tree.
found a friend that will install it for $100...should i stay with stock, or is there another i could get that can handle towing better and maybe a stronger engine, like 390 or 428. Ideas??
Look at your tranny you prob have a short tail shaft and split drive shaft! I had the same thing noisey gears ,take a quart out and install a quart of lucas oil stabilizere did wonders for mine! Its about $8.00 at pepboys or autozone!
you're right, it is a split driveshaft, i'll try to run lucas....if it don't solve the problem, at least lucas will help limp it till i can get it fixed..thanx for the help guyz
