engine rebuild

I'm rebuilding a 351W for my truck, and need to know what I should have done as far as machining goes. What should i tell them to do. The only parts I'll probably reuse are the block and crank. This is the first one i've rebuilt all at once.

I would ask around for recommendations on the best machine shop around the local area. Thats what I did and all turned out well. I got the machining done I needed without alot of stuff that was unnecessary. If honest and reliable they will know what to do. The one thing I did request, and as it turned out was a wise move, was to square up the deck because I was going to be using Edelbrock aluminum heads. My block was way off from blueprint specs (one bank was .020 higher than the other!) and I've read that since the small Fords only have 4 bolts per cylinder, blown head gaskets are a common problem. I asked about balancing, but they said for a truck that was not going to see anything over 6,000 rpm I would just be wasting my money. I got her up and running and couldn't be happier. Hope that helps you out.
