Heat the decal with a hairdryer. Then carefully pick at a corner and while continuing to heat it, slowly peel it off. Now depending on exposure to the elements, paint color and condition, etc. The paint under the decal may be quite a bit different in color. So if you are not planning on doing a re-paint, you might want to think about it first. A little polishing compound will not only remove any adhesive left behind but will help blend the color back as well. Good luck.
I removed the pinstriping on my truck with a new, sharp razor blade. Just slid it down the sides, removing the stripes. Then I used the goo gone product to get the remaining glue off.
I have a set of wheels that going into a die grinder. I got them from Eastwood Automotive. Just takes a little time to get the feel of them, doesn't mess the paint at all.
I'll chip in with WHOWEY on this one. I have a once heavily pin striped "Enforcer" edition F150. I picked up this marvellous eraser wheel from my local parts supply house. It came with the mandrel etc. for an electric drill and that's what I used. It took a few minutes to get the hang of it and then, while keeping the speed fairly slow, the entire truck was done in no time. Takes most of the glue off as well and the residue comes off with Goo Gone or even gasoline on a rag (in a well vented outside area please!). I did not have any burn marks on the paint at all and it was fast and easy.
Plastic razor blades work VERY well for removing pinstriping, stickers, and the adhesive glue. Mineral spirits or paint thinner works well...just don't rub very hard or you'll start pulling off the paint. If you've used one before, you can try a heat gun...otherwise try an ordinary blow dryer. Heat up the area you want to remove...slowly and don't hold it too close to the paint or you run the risk of "popping" the paint or making it bubble and shrink...wipe a little mineral spirits on the area and use a plastic razor blade to scrape it off. They won't scratch the paint nor will they cut you.
I have well over 20 yrs. in professional auto detailing.
Good luck!
