It's a work truck, so nothing flashy. Just your basic white 2005 XL with the long bed (noone else even offers a 7' bed on their compact pickup), 2.3L 5-speed, HD payload package (for 4720 GVWR), tilt/cruise, and cloth seats. This will give me the economy I want plus the capability to handle a heavier load the few times a year I need to.
I've bought new many times, but this is the first time I've ever ordered a vehicle before. It's nice knowing I'll be getting exactly what I want. I also decided not to trade my F-150 in, but sell it on my own. Tradeins aren't very generous right now...
Thanks Tim. According to some posts I've seen, you deal with Rich Ford in Alb... I tried ordering it from them but they said that the longbed and payload options couldn't be had with an XL.
Apparently there is more than one software system that dealers use to configure and order vehicles. One is CONCEPS, which built my vehicle fine. Rich uses PC Carbook, which said it wasn't a legal combination.
So, always check with another dealer if you're having trouble with an option combination...
