Navigator Vs Expedition

I test drove the Navigator a couple of weeks before buying the Expedition. Off course there are some visible interior and exterior differences, but aren't these essentially the same - I mean same engine, interior flexibility, platform etc. I don't see the advantage of buying the Navigator over the Expy ...
- Almost all the nice to have equipment on the Navigator is at least available on the expedition
- expedition has deeper discounts
- Navigator appears to have a $10K premium over the expedition
- atleast in my area the Ford dealership seemed much more professinoal/nicer/upscale than the Lincoln dealership

Am I missing something?

I think it´s better to buy an expe. because later you could buy some aftermarket stuff for it, don´t you think????

Definitely !!! I mean I got the expe with AdvaceTrac/RSC, also with Park Assist and the Canopy Airbags. The vehicles didn't feel much different when I test drove them. My point is that I dont understand what Ford Motor Company's rationale is. Either the Navigator should look, feel and operate much superior than an expedition or else the expedition must not have all the goodies the navigator has.

Look at Toyota, 4.5 years ago when we bought our Lexus RX300, we looked at the Highlander (which shared the platform with RX300). There was a dy and night difference in The look and feel between the two ... I dont see that difference between Navigator and expedition

Well I am not complaining ;-)

yeah and you pay 10,000 for that name the expy has tons of aftermarket stuff for it and it looks "ford tough" how many naigators do you see with 35'' tires fog lamps and brush gaurds i think the expy is a more versatile truck.

The Navigators have that cool 6-speed tranny, electric running boards, power fold in mirrors & power rear hatch though...

One would think that with a 6-speed at least the highway fuel economy would be higher and not lower???

Expedition's 13/19 mpg is another plus over Navigator 13/18 mpg (both for 2wd)

Boy, I'd love to! I'd put it in my F150 though.

My orginal post was more of a joke anyways... 10K is a lot to pay for all that "other" stuff.

Expeditions have 6 speed trannies, also? I believe all torqueshifts are six speeds, they just use only 5 gear combos going upshift, and a different pattern going downshift.

I don't know if the Nav uses all six gears--I do know that my 350 has the six gears, just doesn't use them all--really only 4 shifts going thru the gears.

Before '05, one big reason to buy a Navigator was the more powerful motor. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it had 4 valves per cylinder. Whereas now, the Expy and Gator use the same 3 valve motor that came out in the '04 F-150's.
