I was watching CMT today as I enjoyed my first day of summer and ran across this band called the Duhks. Anyone else heard em? The name was what caught my attnetion but the appearance of the singer kept me. Very uhh... moder, self expressionist to say the least. But the music was something new. It incorporated many different instruments and strayed from the typical blues/country chords and presented a more complicated musical approach. I didnt catch mush of the words but the video was incredible, it seemed to be all about human struggle and showed clips of Vietnam, Pearl Harbor, Japanese internment, the Holocaust, Civil Rights movement marches and others. Something different for country music no doubt.
haha not at all. And I also saw that Hot Apple Pie group that ya'll complain about for the first time. Yes, very commercialized, they seem to be the Hives (band, not the affliction) of country music. I dont know if I enjoyed it or not. Definitely the dumbest lyrics and video ever but the music wasn't bad.
Hmmm sounds familiar. I'm sure I've heard it since my radio usually doesn't play anything but the Range. I think the song I heard was called something like "The Mists of Down Under" or somehting to that effect.
btw I live in Plano, and have been a faithful range listener for about a year now. do you ever go to any of the events? I was at the Denton Air Show, and I go to Love and War now and again on a Sunday night.
I was flippin' through the channels one day and landed on 95.3 and had never know about it before but was releived that I had finally found a station that played older country. At the same moment I looked up and saw a Ford with a KHYI sticker and took it as a sign from above, since then my radio rarely leaves KHYI. Have you ever been able to get in on the phone? My ag teacher listens to 95.3, which works out perfect for trips to shows and contests, and says he's gotten in numerous times. I've always wanted to go to Love and War but never have, I'll have to check it out. Maybe Texas FTE night at L&W should be in the works? And for those out there unfortunate enough to be out of the listening area,HERE is the link to listen on the web.
knarly, I have gotten in on the phone, do you remember when they did some thing where they took their music on the road in the bus, and ended going to Enid OK. ? and the day before they were having people call in and suggest their town as the destination? well a guy called in and suggested Pottsburo, and they asked if he could get the mayor, and he said no. then a little while later a diff guy called in a said he couldn't get the mayor either but that he could get the Postmaster. that was me.
Houston Marksmen (SPL?) are gonne be live at L&W tomorrow, I'm tempted to go, if I do I"ll PM you. and I think an FTE meet at L&W sounds like a good idea. if need to move it to the Texas Chapter area if we're gonna.
