Hello people. I am new to the PSD owner world. I have driven them at work for years, but I finally bought my first diesel truck. It is an 01 F-250 with an auto.
I am looking for a programmer that fits my needs. I don't really tow anything any more. I am basicly looking for a programmer that will increase fuel economy, adjust my speedometer for larger tires, lower EGT's, and of course give me a power increase.
My current mods are a Summit 5" exhaust. (4" downpipe to a 5" expansion chamber), 5" straight through muffler and 5" tailpipe. I am also planning on a new filter setup and an EGT gauge in the near future.
I have been leaning towards the Predator, but read somewhere else on here that they do not adjust for tire size. Is there a different programmer that does, or a different way to fix my speedo with taller tires?
The hypertech does allow you to adjust for tire size and gear ratio. Its the only one out of the programmers out there that will. For the speedo adjustment you could go with the Superlift Truspeed recalibrator, that would let you choose between any programmer.
Another vote for the predator. But I cannot say anything bad about the other units out there never used them but I am happy with Diablosport. I did have a problem lost my stock tune out of the tuner called them, helped me over the phone. Good cust service
another vote for predator. i like its ability to download custom tunes off the internet, also being able to run diagnostic codes from other ford obdll. customer service with the guys at motorhaven cant be beat. just another 2 cents worth!
Thanks for all the replies people. I will check out the different suggestions.
I don't know how the exhaust sounds yet. It just came in this week, and I am putting it on this weekend. I will post up my opinion on the exhaust when I get some miles on it.
Most people see an increase, but not all. It depends on the combination of PCM code, driving conditions, cetane rating of your local fuel, altitude, etc.
I saw a slight decrease in mileage with the tuner. Loved the new found power. I noticed the mileage increase with the new exhaust. There is a sweet spot around 1500 rpm when all I hear is turbo. So I've been trying to keep it there as much as possible. Don't know numbers yet, need to change oil and filters first.
But I have heard many, many people claim an increase in mileage once the novelty of the power gains wears off.
i've got the gauges, now comes the predator... gonna get it from motorhave... heard lots of good things about them.. plus... with the deal they have on the predator now you get next day shipping...! so... you don't have to wait long to start playing..! i'm sure most of the tuners work well... i just like the features and setup of the predator... i may also get a flip chip later... we'll see..! hmmmm... i guess i do have psdmoditis... ohhhh nooo...!
