Painting Diamond Plate?

Does anyone know what the best method of painting diamond plate toolbox and caps is? I have the aluminum ones that oxidize and look like crap. I want to paint them black. Im wondering what kinda of primer to use, and if I should scuff it or sand it or what. Any help would be appreciated.

see if you can find someone to anodize it. this is what you se on carb fittings and stainless hose connectors when they are blue or red, etc.
if not that, find a powdercoater. that is what weatherguard is doing to the black ones they sell.
