I bought one of these sandblasters about a month ago. We blasted a whole 72 GTO to the metal with it. Once we got the hang of it it worked great. We had problems with 1. humidity...you need good dry sand and at least an inline dryer from the compressed air...also keep the compressed air tank drained of excess water...we left the drain cracked open on our compressor....2. sand must be strained...3. as others mentioned, use the sand flow valve at bottom to meter the sand flow....4. smaller tips worked better for us...the blaster works best by providing high velocity to the sand...that means you don't need that much sand flow...but you do need the high pressure air to drive the sand out at high velocity. The larger the tip, the more air volume that is used plus you lose tip velocity so the blaster doesn't work as well. We used play sand but I think that actual blasting media is better. We also reused sand some but found that the sand wears out and doesn't blast as good so we ended up reusing maybe one time and then getting fresh sand.
the big funnel top and the inside out pull plug really make a difference.. course the price is at least 3 times as much, depending on the HF sale price
