Unhappy Lose a/c when accelerating

Yep, when I have the a/c going, I lose the a/c when I go medium to heavy accelerating. What gives?

Mine does the same exact thing and it's kind of annoying when we're heading to the lake pulling the boat in 100+ temps and the AC kicks off any time you give it gas trying to go up a hill. I do know that under full throttle the AC is bypassed by the ECU to give max engine power in passing and accelerating situations so this might have something to do with it kicking off.

I wouldn't mind knowing the answer myself to the AC question

Yes there is a cutout switch on some smaller engines, however do you think
the drive belt may be slipping when the engine revs go up. I know at idle you would hear the squeal but with the engine speed up perhaps you won't.

The very same problem got me hooked on FTE. Look under the hood over by the passenger side fender. Two "spaghetti hoses" vacuum lines emerge from the wiring harness. The white one seems to get britttle and have cracks sooner than the black but mine was a black rubbing on a ground strap and the little check valve assy. was bad. There have been many threads on the subject. To see how I fixed mine click on my name and see my posts. By getting an inexpensive vacuum tester I found four vacuum problems so far and my 5.8 runs great now and A/C always freezes my fanny no matter where, when or how I drive.

When it happens , check to see if its switched to blowing out of the defrosters. If it has then its definitely a vacuum leak somewhere. Check the lines as recommended by b4hntn.

My compressor cuts out when I "get on it". I asked my uncle and his truck has done it from day one. It's some sort of cut-out that by passes the A/C if demand is high fro performance.

I do not get any a/c through the defrosters when it cuts out. I also noticed that sicne I went noseing around the vacuum lines, that the condition isn't as bad. Hardy any cut out at all. Must be like the last post said about it being some sort of auto cut off by-pass thing. I'm not bothered at all any more wiht the cut out. I did see an improved performance after checking the vacuum hoses, so I'm guessing ther was a small leak somehwhere but not nay more.

Ok, it's been awhile, but that is how it is sometimes. I did exactly like b4hntn said about getting the vacuum checkerat A-Z for $30. Found that all of my vacuum hoses and check valves were in good shape. Did find that the back-up vacuum canister for the cruise control/egr circulation was not holding. Costs like $35 to replace. Was just thinking how much money I saved my doing it myself and getting the part myself versus letting some garage ape violate me at checkout.

Been having the same problem with my 95. Air switched to defrost while going ups hills and such. Might have to look at my cannister. DId you get the part at Ford or do parts places carry it?

I went to the Ford dealership. I don't know, just figured that parts places wouldn't carry it, but maybe they do.

yea, the canister seems to be a big problem. mine fell off of its braket yesterday when i pulled my manifolds, just rested my arm on it, and crack, it fell off. mine did that for a while but it was due to that white vac line.

There should be a high rpm switch on the compressor. It shuts off the compressor under high rpms so the compressor doesnt burn up. At least that was what I was told.

Now my A/C never quits (unless I turn it off) no matter how I drive so if it has some sort of cut out switch at full throttle or high rpm it is not working on my '94 5.8 Bronco. I get comfortable in Texas August. See my other posts if you missed the details.
