Question Skid Plates

where can i get decent skid plates for a 95 F150... oil/tranny, transfer case, and gas tanks. i dont like how low the transfer case sits so before i do any off roading i have to get atleast that one. did ford install them in the factor? because there are predrilled holes for it.

skid plates are very easy to make and would be the ideal job to learn how to fab/weld stuff. i have seen ppl take road signs and bolt them in. you could also find an old flat bed in a j-yard and cut the bottom out of it for some strong material!

i wouldn't wanna spend money on something i could easily make

Yeah they came from the factory stock, but in my opoinon they are junk, every truck we have had of those years we pulled the plates off as they weren't really designed properly to be fully effective (a lot of dirt and curd can get in there and start rusting things out), but as cutts said this is a great opportunity to learn how to weld, etc. You can use the factory plates as a template of sorts to, but design it so that the plates allows very little debris to get up in there.
