talk some sense into me
I have been looking at 2005 duallies lately. I tow a large 5er now with my 7.3L It does a fine job doing it. But for some reason I really want a dually. Not a need just a want. The prices on new trucks are insain. But this nagging is killing me. So lemme have it boys and don't be gentle, this is a large purchase decision.
Oh BTW momma would lose her SUV and get my 2002 PSD, I am not getting rid of my baby.

Can you just make yours a dually, and save the extra money? You better keep the 2002 if you get a new one, because I hear horror stories about the trans and electronics on the 6.0. Or how about waiting until the new engine comes out, I think in 07? Why fix something that is not broken? You said the 02 is doing a fine job.

I think that converting your truck to a dually is going to be a problem with the air bags on your rear axle. But that's not really your question.
How about a used dually? Then you only severly bruise your wallet instead of taking it down for a ten-count.
I've towed the same trailer with both SRW and DRW and didn't notice much difference in stability, just that the axle weight rating was a lot more capable of carrying the load and that thought is comforting when I am traveling. I'm not helping, am I
Hmmm, Mileage is lower with DRW, extra rolling resistance that must be overcome. Extra weight, W-I-D-E rear end that must be accounted for when navigating narrow streets. Bouncy ride due to the stiffer springs. Truck feels like a tank compared to SRW. I drove my '99 home from California, jumped into the '95 gasser to take it to work and clean it up for sale and felt like I was driving a Toyota 4x4. Dually's are a lot heavier.
Hmmmm. You'll gain the feeling that you can pull your house down, load up the truck with it and carry it off. But that's not what you want to hear is it? Hahahaha

Dually sounds sweet, I think I would pass on the 6.0 though. Maybe wait until 07 or for the 08?
Wants must be full fullfilled, if it was a need, none of us would be here, most of us would be on a Ford Taurus Forum...........hahaha.
Rooster, have I told you about my latest want? Put a deposit on it a month or so ago.

You guys are right about the 2002 doing a great job. And Cookie I know the ride is sweet, aused 7.3L is not out of the question but I have had a hard time finding one I like. They are either seriously abused, high miles, 2wd, or too high priced (couple bills less then a new one).
Heat, is you new want a corvette by chance? You are killing me. ha ha ha.
Haven't looked into converting my existing truck, I think the problems I could encounter are not worth the risk. Plus if you add up the cost of the parts then finding a short box dual bed, paint and time without my truck while doing the conversion. Still cheaper to buy a used dually.

The only reason I even looked at a new truck was because of Heats new vette. Gotta keep up with them Jonses. Looked at a ZX12 Ninja too, but I think I'm too old for a crotch rocket.
