aiight, my truck does not like to start lately im kind of confused as to the culprit tho. because at first i thought that it was the battery cable, but then i realized that if i use a screwdriver on the starter solenoid, it starts right up, so i bought a new starter solenoid and figured that was the problem, well i changed the solenoid and it started just fine, AT first, then 10 minutes later i get in my truck and turn the key and NOTHING. im very annoyed by this, is it possible that my new starter solenoid is bad? or could it have something to do w/my battery cable?
i just replaced my starter less then a month ago also. any ideas?
yes it is aloways a no crank kinda deal. but now the problem is worse, i cant even get it started at all. this is pissing me off. how could i blow aother starter? this is the 4 or 5th starter i've gone thru in a little over a year. why is this? what is going on????
The solenoid is part of the starter. Is that what you replaced? On Chevys they can be replaced. I did'nt think they could be replaced on Ford's.
The click you hear is the starter relay closing, so the circuit is good from the ignition switch to the relay. If it was the starter relay that you jumped earlier & started it, then the starter relay is bad.
ford has a fender mounted starter solenoid as well as a solenoid on the starter were as chevy's ( i believe ) only have one solenoid, and that is the starter mounted one.
so you think that my starter solenoid is shot? i will look into it. thanks
Heres how your start circuit works. When you turn the key to start the starter relay closes & sends voltage to the starter solenoid. The starter solenoid shoves the starter gear into the flywheel & closes the contacts to complete the circuit back to the battery. From what you say it "sounds' like this part of the circuit is working.
So you might have a bad ground cable to the battery.
Try this simple little test, Add a jumper cable to the ground cable & see if it will start. If it does, replace the ground cable.
Got a starter circuit wiring diagram??????????????????
allright! that's an awsoem idea and i will for sure try that when i get home from school! and no i dont have a starter circuit wiring diagram. were could i go about getting one?
and it is an automatic by the way

Reason: forgot something
yes i will look at that. but as of right now my truck starts. my brother put a new batter cable in and i bought a new starter solenoid and now it starts. but he thinks that if the new batter cable doesnt fix it that it could be the cable that goes to the starter solenoid to the battery.
i am kind of curious as to wondering if my keyless entry problem has anything to do w/ my truck going thru so many starters.
well once again, started fine the first couple of time i try to start it. then i let it sit for a hour, go in, turn the key and nothing. but i can still start it with the solenoid.
this tells me ?
i dont know this tells me something but i just dont know what. gosh
