I have a 97 F250 (just got it 2 months ago) has 100k on it. Seems the fan clutch takes for ever to release. I was told to Pull in 3rd gear since I have 3:55 gears. But the tack is reading 2500 rpms at 65 mph and sounds like fan is going to explode,It finally releases after a couple minutes. Is this normal?
Please help me out...200 bucks is alot to replace it..want to make sure first.

If it's cycling off after a while while pulling that's normal. You want to be able to shed that heat. Let it howl! For me that's music going up a steep hill, I know that all systems are working and we'll get there without suffering a boilover.
If you're pulling less than 8k or so, use OD on the flats, downshift for the hills. You'll find that the trans will run cooler & you'll burn less fuel. As per Kwik, the noise is normal & the fan is in good shape.
