6.9 problem
I need some input on a problem with an '86 6.9. Just put new lifters and push rods in because the engine was over revved and broke a few lifters (wasn't me). Got it all back together and ran good as new for a few minutes. It started making a knock on the drivers side bank. Ran rough and had black smoke. If I rev it up the knock some times will go away and some times not. If the knock went away it would run normal. But when it came back it was rough and more black smoke. I'm thinking it might be an injector. What do you guys think? Thanks

If in fact the engine was over revved and broke some lifters .... Might be a cracked piston. If it is idling, is there lots of breather or oil fill smoke ? What does it sound like with the air cleaner removed? Dont know if this effects the operation but the push rods have certain positioning (copper side one way or the other).
