Hey yall I'm looking into selling my 88 Fullsize bronco and buying a Regular Cab F-250 Superduty. Now what i was wondering is what yall think would be better for an everyday driver that not used to haul anything majority of the time just an occasional friend's boat. Either Regular Gas or Diesel. Thanks for any info
if you're not looking to tow much or just tow occasionally i'd personally look into a F150 with the 5.4..just watch out for flying spark plugs. The 5.4L gas engine in the F250 is pretty however.. so if you wanted to stick with gas engine go for the V10 it has a ton of power and perfectly capable for towing. However i must say the Diesal will get better gas mielage if that's a concern, but the initial cost of buying a diesel will cost more. The cost of buying a diesel can pay for many tanks of gas
With that said though, im currently waiting for my 02 F250 7.3 to be detailed at my local dealer.... i cant wait to pick her up!
the main reason i want the F-250 is the style of the superduty i love the look of the front end. and on the topic of gas mileage will diesel really mean that much of a difference in everyday stop and go traffic
How large of boat are you looking at towing occasionaly?..A 2x4 or 4x4 pickup?..What axle gears?..I perfer the V10 myself, mainly because I own one ..LOL..Like the bajakid said you can buy a lot of gas for the diff in cost of a diesel truck and a gas truck..
For most people it will be a few years before the savings in fuel costs make up for the upfront cost of a diesel engine. Like the above poster said, if you put a lot of miles on a truck you may want to go with the diesel. Less trips to the gas station is a nice thing too in favor of a diesel. The only way I can conceive of going with the 5.4 is if you are not planning on towing much and leaving it stock. I went back and forth a lot when I was purchasing my 2003. Then I went and test drove the diesel and was just blown away by the power. I was sold immediately.
