stripped screws

about a month ago, my younger sister crashed the geo tracker that she was driving. she only rearended the guy so she's gonna keep driving it but we had to replace the headlight assembly. well my dad was trying to do it when i was out and he stripped some screws. the rust was holding them in and he tried to use wd-40 to get them out. we might just be able to leave these screws in but i also want to know for my own knowledge...how do you get these stripped screws out? thanks a bunch!

Drill them out and then re-thread the hole?

On a Geo tracker........rip them out and replace with bigger screws and a washer.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm006BQUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_209.gif' alt='Too Happy 1' border=0></a>

Geez, doesn't anyone watch late night tv commercials anymore? Bob Vila says Sears has some some handy stripped screw removers. (drill bit that cuts a grip into head and turns out screw)

Left handed drill bits or I grind the head off with a dremel, remove the part, and then use vise grips on the shank to twist it out.

Screw extractors. Got some for my birthday a couple of years ago. The few times I have used them they worked great. And yes, they did come from Sears.

the Sears screw extractors your talking about require a SLOW drill. Will not work with the cordless ones as they have too fast a minimum rpm.

The 2 cordless drills I have are variable speed so they worked no problem!
