Tire load range
I have a question on load range and tire size.First I have a 2000 F350 CC Lariat PSD longbed 4x4. A lift 6" lift is in the works with a set of 37"or 38" my question is I spoke with a local bud who runs a tire shop and he informed me that we have load range E 10ply that come stock,he said as you go up in size the plys go down and the tires wear out considerably quicker and we should (Having the diesel) stick with the E range but they do not make 10ply in the sizes I am thinking about. So I guess the question is what are you guys running and how is the wear. Any onfo would be great
Thanks in advance

It is true that the "ply rating" goes down in some cases as you go up in size, but the actuall "load rating" does not always go down, there are other factors involved. What you really need to look at is the Load at Max psi number, this is the true rating of the tire. Check out the specs on one of my favorite A/T tires
Tires no longer have 10 actual plys in a Load range E (10 ply "rated"), they usually only have 2-3 steel plys and 2 nylon plys. The Load Range Rating refers to how strong the plys are in comparison to when tires actually had 10 plys.
A "E" tire will always be stronger than a "D" tire in the same size, but I can show you tires that are bigger in size but yet only have a "D" rating, but still carry more than a smaller "E" tire.
As far as wear goes, that's a mixed bag as well, too many factors to narrow it down to just wide tires being the culprit.
