Hard decelaration, low oil pressure, sometimes
88 F-150 XLT Lariat, ext cab, long box, 4x4, 302, AOD, 8.8 rear, BW 13-56 Tcase.
I have this reoccurring problem. If I come to a hard deceleartion, say from 55 mph to a stop, the vehicle seems to down shift fairly hard. When the vehicle does this, the RPMs drop (not sure to how much) and sometimes the oil pressure drops to the low end of "normal", with this, the "engine" light intermittently comes on. The oil pressure usually runs on the "o" in normal and . The RPMs will stay at about 500 and the oil pressure will stay on the low end until I shift it into neutral or begin to accelerate. I notice if I come to a nice, easy deceleration, I do not have this problem. I have no problem with oil pressure at driving speeds or even slightly higher RPMs. Another clue might be that when I was backing up a few days ago, the vehicle quit 3 times when shifted into reverse.
The oil level is fine and clean, antifreeze looks good. I have not pulled any codes, I am not quite sure how to get them if they are there. CEL does work (lights up when starting) but has not come on while vehicle is in operation.
Any info on where to start or the possible culprit is much appreciated!
Thanks
