Any one here use mini spools ? Trying to finish up a 9" 31 spline axles 3.70 gears with a mini spool . Alum. one or steel one ? And a good place to buy a set of 3.70 gears ! Going in my 65 sb, 390, C-6.
If your useing this on the street DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
Mini spools are to weak for every day use. You'll split it at the splines the truck will not turn well, the tires will wear out faster, you might even snap an axle!
I have ran them for years, and I really like them, cheap way to have two
black marks not one,but if you have not ever drove a car-truck with one installed be very carefull in curves and on wet roads, and if you like getting
on the gas pedal make sure you are staight in the road if you get on it hard
it will turn all the way around in the road ( FAST )!!!!
p.s you may want a full spool if you are going to abuse it!

Check the 4X4 sites for info on them, but I would Seriously advise against a spool in a street truck. They eat tires, The back beacuse one tire is almost always being pushed or dragged, and the front because a locked rear will push the front in a turn.
If you have never driven a truck with a locked axle before, you're in for a supprise. I do alot of 4 wheeling, and so I have a powertrax in my truck. Its not always locked, and saves on my tires. Striength wise, its as strong as a mini spool, but it can unlock for turns as long as there is no torque on it. Its not as bad as a spool for handling, but it's still problematic. I lone my truck to family and friends. Most of them are scared to drive it because of the locked rear end. I get comments ranging from "That thing is like driving on Ice" to "I ain't never getting in that beast again. Send it back to hell where it belongs. It tried to kill me!"
I had a mini spool in a 9 inch on the street. I did not like it for daily driving and turn corners sucked big time...i will go with a posi or locker over a spool anyday for a street car or truck.
