G'day all, I'm looking at a 4x2 parts truck with no rust and was thinking of getting all the panels and cab ready for my 4x4 before I pull it off the road so the down time will be minimal, the cabs look the same but I would like to know if the trans tunnels are the same, wouldn't like to fully prepare a 4x3 cab only to find that all the 4x4 hardware won't fit. cheers.

OzFTrucker : The whole top of your tunnel on your 4X4 cab should be a seperate plate to transfer to the 2X4 cab and the whole top of the original has to be removed to the right size with only a 3/4" overlap remaining to screw your 4X4 one in or it will not fit over the floor of the 2X4 cab properly .
Caulking is also not a good seal here as I found out the hard way . If your original gasket for the 4X4 plate is screwed it is a good idea to cut a new one .
