Thats cool if it is, and I wouldn't hve gotten so irritable in that last post if you hadn't basically accused me of calling you a lair, and talking down to you, all I did was express some doubt, and then answered your original question with the assumption that it really was, then you get defensive, so I gave you all hte info to tell whether it really is or not. The only thing I am gonna say is if it has 4 rings something is wrong unless what he means is 1 compression ring, and the 3 pieces of the oil control ring, but those should also be reasonable so if he had to give $500 for the rings someone took him to the cleaners on them, sorry but I am currently building a full race engine, and the rings cost me $230 for a VERY good set of rings the Boss 9 rings aren't anything special and when you get to a certian level they don't even list the application that is just for people to know which rings to buy for thier engine, but on race stuff they figure you know what you got, and only list the dimensions.
My point on that is he got took on the rings by someone selling him a $200 set of rings for 500 just because he has a boss engine, and doesn't know enough about it my advice would be to never do business with that person again because they can't be trusted.
Oh one other thing, if you can get a picture of the engine, I would dearly love to see it, I always love to see someones engines, and have a real soft spot for Boss9 s, and 427 SOHC engines expecially once it's built, and in a vehicle BTW what is he gonna put that into? May I suggest a 63 split window vette just to irritate some Chebbie guys.
Okay, I KNOW what Boss 429's are selling for and it is WELL into the 6 digit figures. The air cleaners themselves are going for thousands of dollars. A neighbor just sold his Boss 429 for $136,000 and says that if he had put another $20 to 25K into a few more stock parts, it would have been totally original and he knows he could have gotten $250,000 for it, but finding those other parts was getting difficult. Now, I am NOT calling anyone a liar but I remain very skeptical anyone has bought a Boss 429 for $200. A ragged car with the long stroke 429 thunderwhatever engine maybe, but a Boss........?????????? Nope! Don't think so!!! Not even a good story!!!!!
His neighbor is President of the Ford motor Association in MN. He showed him the engine right after he bought it. The neighbor offered him 20k on the spot. And yes he said it is a Boss 429. Since then He has had about 3 people offer up to 25k for the engine as is.
It'll cost almost that much just to have the heads worked, and Lord forbid you have to try and find parts. Unless he's got a boatload of money sitting around to buy accesories (or is a machinist and can make his own) he would have been orders of magnitude better off selling the beast.
...man.....all im saying is that i wish i could get that lucky........man...hey....does the guy that he bought it from have anything else?.....im interested!!!!!!...mabye a 427 sohc......man....it would make a lot of people mad....but i would put that bad boy in my truck....man...that would be awesome........ok im going to go cry now....
I'll chip in $20 toward a flight to MN. I'll even volunteer to go. Or we can elect other volunteers. Flight should be a couple hundered bucks, if I'm/we are wrong then Mr. "friend has Boss9 for $200" gets the overage.
20 of us @ $20=$400. If he aint fibbing, he'll have enough to buy another Boss!!!!
If we're right, the overage goes to Ken and FTE toward the next great get together.

Man! Ford guys are brutal. I'm gonna go over to one of my Chevy forums and claim that my friend who lives 300 miles away just bought a ZL1 for $200 and see what happens.
