i have a 1980 F350 with a performance 460, with a stock 600cfm carb. i would like to convert it to fuel injection. everything i get i would just pull out of a junkyard, so im trying to figure out what i need. i know i need to get cylinder heads, the intake manifold, wiring harness, and throttle body, but does anyone know what else i need? has anyone ever done this before? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
It depends on your heads, if they are the factory heads for '80 then yes you probably will want to get the other heads. What kind of cam is in it? Is is a smooth or rough cam? The computer relies on a vaccum source to read the air pressure in the engine.
You'll need the computer, wiring harness, a solid wiring diagram that can show you what the 80 is missing...as well, you'll need to be prepared to add things like an O2 sensor, coolant temp sensors, etc to make it all work.
It'd be easier to convert to a Holley Pro-Jection bolt on system.
wat web site can i get a whole kit from? or should i just pull stuff from a wrecking yard? i can run the cam if i convert to mass air flow? what is mass air flow?
is there a COMPLETE kit i can buy, or do i need to buy several kits to have one whole assembly? what major improvements will i be looking at after i do this transfer?
