Can someone enlighten me on failsafe cooling? From what I know, the computer goes through and just shuts off cylinders as the heat increases on the powerstroke motor. I am sure it is more technical.just looking for an explanation. THANKS!!!
Not to my knowledge...all of our units are stock Ford PSD's except for the Ambulance Prep Package but the cooling is still the same.
Reason I asked is that no matter how hot it is outside my PSD and come to think of it the PSD ambulances never EVER seem to get any hotter than normal no matter how hard I drive either.......was just wondering.
Ah...that's not failsafe cooling, just a superior cooling system.
Failsafe cooling is as you described it. The computer will shut down cylinders to keep the engine temp down in the event that you run the coolant system dry...waterpump failure, busted hose, etc. Our trucks have no such system.

A superior cooling system for a superior vehicle. :-)
