What kind of temps are you seeing on your transmission. I just finally got my truck in good enough running order that I felt that I could install my gauges that I bought nearly a year ago (Didn't want to install them if I was going to do a buyback). I did the install this weekend, but when I drove it, only once did it come off the bottom (140 degrees). It hit about 160 while climbing a hill with the outside temp being around 65 degrees. It didn't budge this morning on my 10 mile commute with the outside temp around 50 degrees. I have the ISSPRO gauges and probes.
Just be sure to keep the anticipated tranny temp in mind when choosing your gauge.....be sure the range on the gauge will be able to show fluctuation in both directions.I know you bought your trans temp gauge already, so this may be a moot point for you.
The highest I saw was 185-190 with a loaded cab, bed, and bikes on the roof. In 105 degree heat @ 85-90 mph. This worried me a little since I wasn't towing and pulled off at a rest stop for myself and the truck. Right back down to 165. I've heard majority of auto tranny damage starts at temps>200 deg F.
