390 Questions (Kickdown and Timeing)

390 Questions (Kickdown and Timeing)
Ok, just got done installing a Preformer 390 intake on my 76 F-250 4X4. Couple of questions. First off, is there anyone out there thats useing the Lokar kickdown cable with a C-6 auto trans with this block? I have an Edlebrock 600 (1405) carb with the new preformer 390 manifold. If so, how do you mount it to the carb and intake? Does the cable point towards the grill of the truck like the stock kickdown rod, or now that I have a cable system does it point towards the Firewall?
Also I can't seem to get the timeing just right after this intake upgrade. Where should the timeing be with this setup, its also got a very mild cam and headers. The book says somewhere from 5-10 but before, or after TDC O.
